Be modest. Especially when it comes to your Japanese. When the interviewer praises your Japanese skills, always respond with saying that you can hardly speak the language. This second comment will impress the interviewer if it is said in good Japanese, because it shows that the interviewee not only has a basic understanding of the language but also of the culture.
Be on time!!! This sounds so trivial and is universal, yet Gaipro has experienced over and over and over again how this very basic rule is neglected so very often. You should approach the company reception about 5 minutes before the appointed interview time. Unless you are absolutely confident that you will be on time, incorporate some buffer time in your calculations. There is almost no excuse for being late.
Dress appropriately! For men, a suit and tie are considered the norm. There is rarely any danger of overdressing. The jacket and trousers should match and flashy colors avoided. As for woman, we advise to dress conservatively. An office suit is the ideal choice. The skirt should not be too short. Stockings are considered the norm.
Business cards: Sometimes you will receive business cards from the interviewers. Study them carefully. It is a sign of respect and interest, and will also provide you with helpful information regarding the rank of person you are speaking to. If you don't have a business card don't be concerned as it is not expected.
